Applied Virtual Simulation (AVS) joins the MAK family as an official distributor!

MAK is thrilled to add AVS to our worldwide team of distributors to support our Australian MAK users! We're proud to have a team of partners that have deep knowledge about our software, speak your language, and can help you build the solution you want. No matter where you are in the world, you're never far from MAK.

Here's a bit about AVS...

Applied Virtual Simulation (AVS) is a leading provider of simulation-based training systems to the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

AVS is headquartered in Newcastle and has staff located across Australia including Canberra, Darwin, Brisbane and Victoria. AVS delivers and supports a range of simulation-based training systems at key locations which deliver capability across a broad range of training requirements, such as mounted combatant training, infantry specialist training, combat engineering and supporting arms observation / call-for-fire.

AVS was founded in 2016 by former Army officer and simulation technology expert Martin Carr to fulfil a need for integrated training simulation systems within the Australian Defence Force. "AVS is focused on delivering complete simulation solutions and providing the best possible outcome for our Defence customers. AVS has been shaped by innovation from a diverse range of sources, including advanced manufacturing techniques, 3D printing, and ongoing advances in consumer technologies such as AR, VR and gaming," says Martin.

"As part of our innovative approach, we found MAK software with its integrated constructive and virtual solutions to be the logical choice for our simulation development. Because of this, we wanted to take on the distribution of MAK solutions to share the benefits of this flexible and interoperable software with our customers and those seeking new simulation systems."

AVS CTO, Craig Williams, says of joining the MAK network, "At AVS, we have a hand-picked team of software developers and hardware integration specialists with extensive experience in simulation and we are looking forward to providing local support to our Australian MAK users."

AVS is committed to the growth of capability within the Australian Defence industry. It recruits and trains graduates from local universities and also employs a number of former ADF personnel and active reservists. The ability to understand the Army's broader training intent comes from staffing a combination of highly skilled employees and former serving ADF members enabling AVS to understand the industry and customer requirements expertly and define the specific requirements of their use case to support their training outcomes.

Don Hampton, AVS Training and Support Manager, is pleased that AVS has been selected as the MAK distributor to provide these solutions for simulation users here in Australia. "Having used a number of simulation systems as part of my Army service as a trainer, I am very impressed with the interoperability of MAK software that puts users in control of what they want their simulation to do in support of their training, and with the flexibility of delivery through the cloud - where they want to use it. Such an excellent capability that would have been handy to have previously."

The selection of AVS will provide MAK users with locally based support, as well as giving them access to a distributor who understands the Australian simulation industry landscape to provide the best-informed advice and solutions for their simulation needs.

"We are pleased to partner with MAK as their Australian distributor," said Martin. "To offer MAK's excellent software solutions to the Australian Defence Force and wider industry is a natural alignment with AVS's values and promise to our customers 'Making simulation work.'"
